Our Bandogs are bred for impressive size and formidable presence, reflecting their historical role as large, powerful working dogs. While known for being "burthenouse of bodie," they are also eager and confident. Training is rigorous and focused on civil protection, making them highly disciplined. Diet is crucial for their powerful physique and high energy levels, requiring a balanced, high-quality raw diet tailored to their specific needs. We provide guidance on nutrition to ensure optimal health and performance.
What makes BRITISH BANDOG KENNEL's lines unique?
We boast the most prestigious Bandog bloodlines in Europe, sourced from deep generations known for their proven capacity to work man or beast. Our kennel features two amazing males from Serbia, Lazar and Branko, true barbarians of dogs. We also have two fiercely capable females from deep generation American x Slovakian working Bandog lines, as well as Slovakian x Portuguese working Bandog lines. We are committed to breeding and producing our own lines of working Bandogs ready for any occasion.
How do you approach training your Bandogs for protection?
Our training focuses on developing a "civil" Personal Protection Dog (PPD) rather than a sport dog. This means we build a "man-focused" mindset, where the dog targets the real person, not just equipment. Training emphasises defense/fight drive, handler defence, and scenario-based "chaos" training to prepare for unpredictable, real-world situations. We cultivate rock-solid obedience and teach critical commands like "watch/alert," "bark and hold," and a 100% reliable "out" (release). Our program is directed by BLUE WARRIOR TACTICS,certified national police K9 field and decoy trainer. T.O.D.O.S K9 DEXOY

What support do you offer after purchasing a protection dog?
We provide a comprehensive one-to-one aftercare plan for both the dog and handler. This program is designed to strengthen the bond through real-life scenarios and situations, ensuring continuous maintenance and conditioning of the dog. It also empowers handlers by building knowledge, confidence, and reinforcing the bond. All aftercare training is overseen by our lead director of training, BLUE WARRIOR TACTICS, a national police K9 field and decoy trainer T.O.D.O.S K9 DECOY.
What is the history behind the term "Bandog"?
The term "Bandog" originated in Middle England around 1250–1300, from "banda" (chain) and "doc" (dog), meaning "chained dog." Historically, these were large, powerful Mastiff or molosser-type dogs kept chained during the day and released at night to guard property. They were selected for strength, stamina, confidence, and fearlessness, used for guarding, hunting large game, and even baiting. While the "old bandog" is extinct, the concept of a superior protection dog was revived, leading to modern Bandogs being specific crosses bred for guarding.
